Stones of Remembrance

Great is God’s Faithfulness! In Joshua’s 4:6, he commands, as YHWH has directed him, that stones of remembrance be placed.

Today’s Mixed Media Meditation is a short one, with a much quicker creative make.

My stacked stones represent things in my life that either I’ve lost and God has gotten me through, or other things He’s provided that give me His Abundant Life in the midst of chaos and loss. All of them are things that I look back on and remember His faithfulness. 💖

I encourage you to seek your heart for “stones of remembrance” in your life, when God has proven Himself faithful. Especially in the midst of the storms of life. And maybe even artistically journal them.

Here’s how I created my art journal page.

This page was inspired by Emily Henderson’s session at Encounters in Colour 2025. I resized and traced her stacked stones handout onto an ink sprayed background from my stash.

I cut them out, added the details with black Sharpie, and added my words of remembrance that I was thanking God for His faithfulness in, and the verse reference and key point.

My background was made by ink smooshing and splattering with Distress Oxide Inks.

I decided to add another subtle layer of visual texture with stenciling. And a darker outline around the page.

I typed the words I wanted to add to the page, on the computer. Printed and cut them out, then ink edged them and my stones.

Gluing all the components onto the background completed this quick faith art page.

We’d love to see your interpretation of this passage on Stones of Remembrance, in our Creative Community on FB.
