Isaiah 6:8 has been on my heart this past week or so. I’ve spent nearly my entire adult life in Christian ministry. But betrayal trauma nearly silenced my voice, and the years of healing from it practically put a pause in my outreach ministry. Although my personal relationship with God didn’t waiver, the level of my bold outward witness no doubt lessened. “Here am I, Lord. Send me.”
“Here am I, YHWH. Send me.”
Isaiah 6:8
I’ve been playing catch up back at home this week, after being gone to Convention all the last week. Still continuing to create a bit here and a bit there, still taking Pray & Play time,—and actually finishing an art page, layer by layer. This week’s Faith+Art journal page is my creative meditation on Isaiah 6:8.

Many times God calls us to “go” to our own “Jerusalem and Judea”. He “sends” us to our home town, region, country, and that’s been my ministry experience. Like Deborah, most of my life I’ve ministered “under my own tree”. And the internet has helped me reach out from there. And like Esther, I know each of us are called “for such a time as this.”
These thoughts shaped how this page came together, from collaging Bible pages as the beginnings of the background to my color palette choice, and each layer and element.

What has God been placing on your heart? Are you hearing the call to His followers to “go into all the world, and disciple the nations”—even if that “world” is your own neighborhood?
What can you Pray & Play, creatively about? You don’t need to have a plan mapped out. Start with a scripture that’s on your heart, put something on a page—God’s Word itself, or journal your thoughts, or some color—anything. Continue as you’re led. Stop when you’re stuck. Come back to it later. Layer upon layer, meditate on God’s Word, and Pray as you Play. Knowing that this is restoring your soul and renewing your mind.
Have you needed some Pray & Play creative time recently? Did you take that time? What verse did you focus on? Let me know in the Comments. Remember creativity doesn’t need to be a completed project. Slow and meditative creativity is healing to your soul, even when it isn’t “finished” Even if you stop in the messy middle.
