A Joyful Heart

I found this post lurking in my Drafts—from this past August (8/31). My spicy brain is conflicted over whether to back date this to then, or just post it now. So it’s now for now, but I may need to put it back in proper order later. 😊 But either way, my brain says these past posts need to be caught up before the New Year bells chime. Sometimes a Joyful Heart is the furthest thing from our reality. We are living with a broken spirit, that “dries up the bones”. Soul crushing harm and trauma does literally cause health… Continue reading

Pray & Play 1

{post 2 in this series} Taking some “time out”, during the busyness before the holidays, to just Pray & Play* was indeed needed, and ended up being a fruitful decision. Playing with Tim Holtz Distress Sprays is a favorite fun way to intuitively create, and get some wonderful backgrounds to use as foundations for finished creations. So that’s where I began. As I added layer upon layer, of inks and other mixed media textures for the backgrounds, inspiration came for taking them to the next step. And finalizing with words of inspiration and focal points. My first start for the… Continue reading

‘Tis the season—for Organizing

‘Tis the season—the week between Christmas and New Year’s—when I mainly work on organizational projects and putting things away, decluttering etc.—after the explosion all the holidays bring. One of my primary goals is usually to find my creative studio again. Many Christmas projects are usually done, with a time crunch, and yes, it looks like paper exploded in there. So it’s now time for everything to find its home again. I also usually pack away the specifically Christmas products and supplies. This year they weren’t even touched. 😢 But that doesn’t mean I didn’t make a whole lot of Christmas… Continue reading

Comfort & Joy?

We’re in a season now that can be super busy. We can find ourselves lacking in the peace, comfort and joy that this season is supposed to be about. I’ve been enjoying all my music concerts and performances (4 just this past week, plus attending another of a friend’s), loved hosting Thanksgiving, was so excited to attend my coaches retreat—even though it resulted in an injury that laid me up for a while. I greatly look forward to celebrating Christmas with much of my family. And of course, there’s always work to pay the bills, classes to attend and to… Continue reading

Wholeness Healing: Creativity

Creative activities help reset the nervous system, and heal the brain in the areas that can be more readily accessed after abuse. Many times, the logical, executive thinking, complex decision-making brain cannot be our first line of healing, after the confusion and chaos and crazy-making of abuse. Creativity calms down our nervous system, begins to rewire the brain, and sets us on a path to healing. Many people will say, “I’m not creative”. These activities do not require you to be an artist or think you’re “creative”. They tap into the creative side of your brain, that we were all… Continue reading

Healing Scents for Anxious Feelings

Real plant oils** have been proven to have natural healing properties, not only for physical ailments but also for our emotions. As a natural health educator and Wellness Advocate, these natural, pure, safe, and effective essential oils, as well as hands-on protocols with them—locally, are an essential aspect in the healing resources I offer clients. **Not synthetic or adulterated fragrances, even those labeled “essential oil”, but are not true or high quality real natural plant oils with therapeutic benefits. Neurographic Art Meets Kintsugi

This past weekend I experimented with a new (to me) type of healing art. A combination of Neurographic and Kintsugi. If you aren’t familiar, Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese practice of repairing broken or cracked pottery, such as loved vases or bowls. Rather than trying to hide the cracks or breaks, they were repaired with gold or silver added over the lacquer glue, highlighting the cracks. Adding value to the piece, through its brokenness. Neurographica* is an algorithm-based type of brain healing art, where science meets psychology and creativity, utilizing specific steps that rewire and renew brain neurons and synapses…. Mixed Media Collage Tags

I made it out of the kitchen and back into my Creative Studio today. (See freely eat whole post.) Still (slowly) working on projects from the Choose Joy online Faith Art retreat. Mixed Media tags.Collage is not a go to for me for a couple of reasons, that are probably quirky, but some of you ND peeps may understand. But I like how these turned out. Variety of collage fodder, finger painting marking, ink smooshing and spraying, stenciling, mark stamping, black & white stamped focal points. Whew! 💖 Since I’m getting this posted long after I started it, (back dated),… Continue reading

Joyful—Psalm 100 Faith Art

“Make a Joyful noise! Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before His presence with singing.” What better way to display Joyfulness in our art than with a colorful composition! I’m still working my way through creating some of the projects demonstrated at the Choose Joy Faith Art online retreat I attended a few weeks ago. I practiced what I’m preaching, and had fun making this mixed media Scripture Faith Art page, as I meditated on God and His goodness and blessed His name. (Read this whole short chapter in the Psalms.) This colorful page includes: Ink blending, reverse stenciling, much… Continue reading
