Today we’re looking at the fruit of the Spirit, in Galatians 5:22-23.
Fruit can’t be rushed, nor does it come from striving and trying harder. It grows as the natural result of being connected to the source/vine/tree and being watered and fed through that source.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-25
This section of this passage begins with the word ‘but’, so we know it is contrasting what’s to come with what was said before. What was before is Paul outlining the works of the flesh and stating that those that practice them will not inherit God’s Kingdom. He is contrasting works of the flesh with the fruit of God’s Spirit.
Going back a verse or 2 before that, you’ll see that we are to walk by the Spirit so we don’t carry out the desires of the flesh. Those that follow, walk by, live by God’s Spirit—those that are connected to the life giving source of God’s Spirit will produce His fruit, not the works of the flesh.
The art journaling for this page is Day 7 of Exploring Joy #faithjournaljuly2025.
My “fruit” is depicted by flowers—(spiritual fruit isn’t literally fruit either)— clinging to the vine. One for each listed spiritual fruit in Galatians.

This page started with some pink stenciling and pink and black stamping on this grid page. Tim Holtz Linked Circles, Polkadot stencils, Crafter’s Companion Sensational Sunflower stamps.
My belly band was ink blended in the pink, stamped with a green vine, Sizzix Organic Borders, for my fruit/flowers to connect to, and edged in black.
The flowers are painted cardstock, Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed Distress Paints, cut with Tim Holtz’ Small Tattered Florals dies, then edged with black and layered. I labeled each with the initial of one aspect of the fruit listed in Paul’s letter to the Galatians.
This is a rare page for me that doesn’t have a title or caption. But the page is finished by my verse card, and a quote card—not shown, tucked into the belly band.
True joy is the fruit of justification by faith… it is the Spirit’s gift as He assures us of God’s love.
