Masculine Card Bonanza

It’s my birthday month! 🎉 But more than that I have 7 masculine cards to make within less than a month for family members. That’s a lot of testosterone! So many of us find making men’s cards challenging. You too? Read on for a wide variety of inspiration.

I missed photos of a couple, and included a couple other cards for males I’ve made this spring.

I love this recent make with the Tim Holtz Gentleman die. That background (which the photo doesn’t do justice to) is the most yummy thing around.🤩 I’ll include another, better pic of just it, below.
Background: Vintage Photo, Salvaged Patina, and Scattered Straw Distress Sprays, Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Spray, Antiqued Bronze Mica Spray. The splatters are Picket Fence Spray and Ground Espresso Distress Paint. Ground Espresso Distress Ink for the edges and the stamped bricks. And Black Soot Archival Ink for the sentiment. I shot a video of this one, so will try to post it soon.

1 idea applied to 2 different tags got these out to pre-teen recipients quickly. One of them for my birthday buddy grandson born on my birthday, another born 3 days before. Distress Watercolor Pencils are my favorite coloring medium, but I haven’t used them for a while. These fun Tim Holtz Blueprint Birthday stamps had been lonely for a while to. I lost the photo of the colors of Distress Watercolor Pencils I used, but yellow, orange, red, and blue. Stamping was done with Black Soot Archival Ink. Happy Birthday stamp: Tim Holtz Label strips: Vintage Photo Splatters and Scorched Timber edging. A pocket on the back for cash or gift card, and for me to add my personal greeting, makes these tags a hit!

This adorable First Birthday card, for my youngest grandson, came together quickly by utilizing patterned paper. Don’t just look at those big 12×12” sheets as is. Look at the elements on them, and fussy cut them out, then put back together to create a scene card in the appropriate size.

A couple more male cards, not previously shared, from this Spring. I made 2 for 1 in this design, in different colors, for 2 young boys, who have birthdays the same week, but live far from each other. Combining non-complicated die cuts with quick stenciling, and repeating the same processes to make a second card, made these cute children’s cards possible in the time I had.

A more sophisticated card for a young adult man. Ink sprayed papers make for quickly colored backgrounds. Add additional physical texture with an embossing folder (Tim Holtz’s Mosaic). Isn’t that stone background amazing. Layer the 2 together to create a clean spot for the focal point—all die cuts. “Tailored” hat and collar from Tim Holtz SIZZIX. “Happy” from Happy Camper by Recollections. “31” from Sizzix dies with Sidekick machine.

The last card for this post was for my youngest, and the last card needed for June. Another scrumptious background, made with the Tim Holtz Numbered embossing folder, inked with layer upon layer of goodness. Thankfully that was in my stash already done, because this card needed to come together quickly. Dies and a bit of inking, all from Tim Holtz, made that possible. Cups and heart from Mini Fresh Brewed, alphanumeric from Santa Greetings, and numbers from the die set that came with the Sidekick. I made another, very different male birthday card with the same Mini Fresh Brewed dies—and embossing folder. But I don’t have photo of it. I’ll try to remake and share in the future.
