The Living God

Do you remember the old song, God’s Not Dead? “No! He’s alive!” YHWH, the I AM, the Eternal Creator and Ruler of all is a Living God, making Him far different from, and far above, all the false gods devised and worshipped over all time—who are all dead or never had any life.

Even Emmanuel, God the Son, Who came to live among humans as a man, though He died as a human, He rose again to Life! We serve a risen Savior!

El Chai (khy) is the Living God!

This Faith Art Journal page is another from the Who Do You Say that I Am? online retreat on 10 names of God. I chose to use hearts and the heartbeat line to represent life, because as earthly creatures the life is in the blood, pumped by the heart. Our heartbeat is human, bodily life. This of course, as always, was totally rogue from, Jen Alward’s, the instructor’s inspiration.

How would you represent the fact that YHWH is a Living God?

I chose Psalm 84:2 for my focus verse, that I was meditating on as I created. I love this verse, and return to it often. Many times this verse is translated “cry out”, and the heartful feeling of that is so often very appropriate in my meditating. But I also love this translation of “sing for joy”! Both translations are accurate, but for me they come from different places in worship. Both situations are times that my heart and flesh go to our Living God.

I long and yearn for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and flesh cry out for /sing for joy to the living God.

Psalm 84:2

This meditation also directs me to John 4:23-24,

 true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.

My spirit, heart (soul), and flesh are all involved in my worship. For I love El Chai with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. We are whole beings, and we worship God with our whole being. God isn’t interested in, nor pleased with those who

approach me with their speeches to honor me with lip-service, yet their hearts are far from me, and human rules direct their worship of me.

Isaiah 29:13

So in true worship, in spirit and truth, my heart and my flesh will sing for joy to El Chai!

My background for this page went through several transformations before I was satisfied with it. That’s the beauty of mixed media. Layer upon layer. If you don’t like a layer, cover it with another. Just as the incomprehensible beauty of our salvation is that God covers our sins and imperfections with the living, saving blood of Y’shua!
