Fun Play—Gel Print Book Pages

It’s Fun Play Friday! But any day can be a Fun Play Day! On Fun Play Days, I have no project in mind. No thinking through. I just want to create and don’t know what. My mind is most likely going a million miles an hour in several directions, and I just need some Happy Place time for Soul Care. So I grab some supplies, sit down, and see what happens. Like a child sitting down to play “art”, with an assortment of supplies before them, I just grab and do. I think I’ll try this! What would this look… Continue reading

WIP Wednesday—Altered Playing Cards

Since it’s Wednesday, let’s take a look at my desk today, and see my work in progress (WIP). Altered Playing Cards! May was a hot minute, that flew by every which way, with events and day to day happenings. My school semester ended with various performances—our concert/recital (I was awarded Instrumentalist of the Year), we hosted a concert, and we performed for graduation. Day to day life included my son’s car being hit, home repairs and yard work, and dealing with some trauma issues,—and a restful Mother’s Day with visits with several of my children and a yummy dinner. My… Continue reading

Bible Journaling Tutorial – Resurrection

He is Risen! Risen indeed! This one event completely changed history, infinitely more than any other. It also completely changed my life—and perhaps yours too. It is the most important event in history—and in my life. I’ve been enjoying creatively journaling this event in my Bible, every year. I’ve created a different style and look in each one. This year’s Resurrection journaling was created with napkin collaging, stamping, and like my previous 2 entries, images from the Free Printable I designed. Supplies needed for this page are: Bible or Journal page—and Protection mat Napkin Collage Medium & brush/applicator Water brush… Continue reading

Bible Journaling – Last Passover & Crucifixion

My process of Bible Journaling isn’t often something I video as I’m creating it. It is a highly personal and reflective time, meditating on the passage, praying, and demonstrating my thoughts and feelings through whatever I’m inspired to do at the moment. Many pauses. Sometimes more mess than beauty. Sometimes I have no planned direction. Other times, it doesn’t turn out like I’d envisioned. But it is my time with my Abba. He know what my thoughts are, my vision for my page, regardless of how it turns out. He is pleased with my imperfect offerings, when He knows my… Continue reading

Matchbook Pocket Folio Tutorial

I’ve got yet another style of “pocket” tutorial for you today! I think I could do a different style every week for a year—actually much longer, and still not run out of fun and unique ideas. In this project, we’re going to create several gusseted pockets, and put them together, accordion style, in a Matchbook Folio. These are reminiscent of accordion files to me—only miniaturized! And so much cuter! These folios are great for organizing small ephemera, snippets, tags, or paper scraps, or for filling with those things or other goodies to give to others. I used book pages for… Continue reading

It is Finished

They stripped Him, scourged Him, placed a crown of thorns on His head, and took Him to the Place of the Skull. They crucified Him. Jesus, the “King of the Jews.” … But death could not hold Him. It is finished! He’s alive! He has conquered the grave, death, and sin. #freelywhole #freelywholecreative #BibleJournaling That His people may also conquer — and live! Tab Happy

Did you notice the tabs on my altered envelope, that I posted on Freely Whole Creative Studio on Facebook, this week? That Envelope tutorial will be coming soon, but for that project, and as I continue creating, I’m grateful to Julie, at Camelia Craft Designs (on YouTube,) for designing a “whale tail” type tab for Cricut Design Space (free if you have Access), since that style of punch is nearly impossible to find (at least affordably. So quick and easy to have dozens of tabs at the ready. Much faster than I could punch or manually die cut. And definitely,… Continue reading

Creating Creative Habits

Creativity is soul care that is both effective and enjoyable for the brain healing from trauma. But to be effective, it needs to be practiced. And nothing helps practice more than making it a habit. And nothing creates habits better than doing it daily. Yes, I know what you’re saying, but stick with me. What creative soul care have you been doing recently? Most of my creations this past few weeks have continued to be envelopes, pockets and folios, with some Bible Journaling and tags and cards and jewelry making, and … and, here and there. Ok, I admit it,… Continue reading

Prayer & Rest

This is what a prayer and rest retreat looks like for me. ❤️🙏🏻 When life has been non-stop, stressful extras, for over a year, and mama’s two travel events this spring have been nixed, she eventually needs a bit of a break. Some time alone with God, for rest and reflection, are just the fix. My car is full. My room is full. Not with clothing, toiletries, food, and daily needs, (though they all came in one small backpack.) But with tools of the trade. With pieces that will help me create peace. With ashes to turn into beauty. With… Continue reading
