Hope for a Tree

In the midst of Job’s list of woes, he inadvertently makes a statement that we can draw wisdom and hope from. He is complaining about how hard life is and that we live, have trouble and die. Like a flower we are cut down, and then we’re gone. But then he makes a statement that I think is very pertinent to us as Survivor Warriors. He says basically that trees have it better, “For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease.”

Job, at this point, saw human life as fragile flowers that wither and are gone, but God shows us throughout His Word that He sees it different. He sees us as trees. We are not cut off and that is the end. We die on earth, but we live on in eternity.

But even in the here and now, I see this relating to those of us that have been cut down in life, through abuse, betrayal, trauma. We were cut off and it looked like the end. BUT GOD…

God brings new life out of that which has been cut down. His whole purpose is to bring life to what is dead. To heal the broken-hearted, to bring liberty to the captives. To bring new life to those that have been cut down.

Rejoice! oh you trees. You are strong in the Lord! Though you’ve been cut down, you will sprout again, your tender shoots will not cease. There is HOPE for YOU, dear one!

Have a blessed Lord’s Day!
