Much of my own Survivor to Thriver story has only been shared at conferences and in private groups thus far. But God continues to open doors to help bring healing to others, through my story and my training in helping abuse and betrayal survivors, and that is what this website was created to do. So…
“that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
2 Corinthians 1:4
It’s interesting to see what comes up in “memories” from the past. (x doesn’t come up directly, as those have been removed very long ago.) But this just came up. I’d shared it on social, with no commentary, 7 years ago.
By that point, I wasn’t able to journal much. Too much trauma, but I didn’t know what to call those feelings, just fear, overwhelm, quashing, cruelty. My author identity was also pretty shut down by then. No more books written or published. Very little on my blogs and social.
I shared this meme on social, just shortly after the last anniversary trip that was pure disregard and cruelty. Definitely not for celebration or caring. This was around 14 months before proof of his ongoing adultery. As bad as that anniversary trip (and everything going on at that time) was, I would have never guessed divorce was in my future. Yet deep in my sub-conscious, I knew I was strong to have gone through all I had in life. I’m sure I just thought God would continue to strengthen me to continue going on in it. But God was, unknown to me, leading and preparing for what was to come—in so many subtle ways.
What came and destroyed like a hurricane, has left and God brought calm, peace, and new growth in its place. ❤️🩹
He brings strength when you feel you can’t go on. He brings healing. He brings safety. He brings joy. He brings new life.
