Art journaling not only is therapeutic to help us through hard times, it is also joyful to help us remember good times. To document the goodness of God, and express our worship to Him.
I started creating a journal of precious memories from and while I was at the Called to Peace Ministries Retreat earlier this month. I’m continuing to work on it.
As I’ve repeatedly said, art journaling is not about creating gallery worthy fine art pieces. It is, like a written diary/journal, for expressing yourself, what you’ve done, and what you’re feeling—only through color and design instead of many words. It’s about letting go of perfection, and just enjoying the process. Trusting in the work it is doing inside of you, more than the beauty of the work on the page.
No one else ever has to see it. It is your personal diary.
But I open up many of my journal pages to you, to come alongside you as a helper of your joy. Showing you that imperfect art is worthwhile to create, and should bring no shame—only joy and healing in the moment and making. And to bring you confidence that you too can do this. You were created to create! I’d love to help you learn how to do a creative form that anyone can do—no art skills or experience needed.
Enjoy the thoughts and feelings behind these messy mixed media memories from the Retreat. May even imperfect pictures paint 1000 joyful, healing words.
I utilized many parts of the Retreat information booklet in the collage aspects.

Would you like to learn how to create these types of simple to make, multi-layered, and healing to the soul art journal techniques? Check out the Creative Coaching tab and its links. I will be working on updating the website listings of my creative classes, courses, and coaching over the next few weeks. So be sure to come back and check it later also. (My more extensive list disappeared when I switched course software. I’m working on restoring it.)
