Stash Card Making

Last week I attended a Craft Your Stash Card Making Summit, hosted by Justine Hovey. It was perfect timing, as I needed several more birthday cards soon. This gave me a chance to utilize different techniques than my usuals, and pull out some “forgotten friends”, supplies I’d been neglecting. I shared one of those cards last week. Today I have a few more for you.

The technique highlighted on this masculine card is embossing with a stencil, to bring added texture and depth to the background, without using pastes or other messy procedures.

The supplies used for this card are pretty simple. Stencil, inks, and dies.

Card #2 started with an alcohol ink background. Thankfully, I already had several alcohol ink backgrounds pre-made in my stash. Choosing one was the hard part.

An added technique was to run it through an embossing folder, then sand some of the raised parts off, and go over that with the Distress Crayon.

It was also covered with Crackle Paint, a forgotten fave!, which showed up much better than it does in the photo. The metallic spray stain was used for splatter. I finished it off with a bold sentiment, from a die cut and stamp.

I really love card #3 here. So much so that I haven’t put it on a card base and used it yet. 😊 But the techniques are pretty standard for me. And simple! Distress Spraying and stamping.

Card #4 was simple, but not quick. It was made using printables—in this case provided by the teacher of the class. I’m not sure why I didn’t utilize my Scan n Cut to cut the images out, but I didn’t. I did the long, pain staking fussy cutting. I also added solid mats between the busy layers to add definition. I made 2 cards, but could have made several more with the printables provided.

I also ended up changing the sentiment on my Wish I Would Have card I posted last week, from this Summit. —Since I needed these birthday cards right away.

I’m thankful for the Summit, to help me get the cards I needed done, while using some different, neglected techniques. I’m also thankful I don’t need anymore birthday cards until the end of the month…

As I have another online creative retreat coming up. It will be mostly mixed media Faith art. My favorite! So watch for those makes coming soon.
