Domestic Abuse Awareness

October is DV Awareness Month. Don’t turn a blind eye to abuse. Yes, the month is almost half gone. Yes, I’ve mentioned it in a previous post. Yes, I’ve been posting about it daily on social media—educational info, how you can help, how you can get safe, heal, and live free. Yes, I chose to not just repeat all of my past posts about this that are already here. You’ll find them all here by clicking the #DVAM tag. Parenting Plan Idea Workbook {Review}

The Parenting Plan Idea Workbook is a great resource for helping you figure out what should be included in your parenting plan. You will no doubt come across areas and questions you wouldn’t have thought of, as well as various options in those areas, to think through. I’m very glad that right at the outset it is made clear that you do NOT share this workbook, nor your thoughts and answers, with the other parent. That is so important! This is for you and your attorney to come up with your ideal plan, and what you can compromise in that…. Continue reading

Rocking R&R

Survivors need self/soul care, to heal and rebuild. And being out in God’s Creation is a great natural, rest giving healer! This is the view of a little R&R from my porch rocking chair on the Lord’s Day morning, at the Called to Peace ministries abuse survivors Retreat that I attended in NC this past week. The clouds that stayed low on the mountains, all of yesterday, have rolled out. The rain last night only leaves its scent. The sun in shining. The birds are chirping. Beautiful peace. Take care of you, sisters, so you can be freely whole! Or… Continue reading

Rise Up O Army

💯 If this isn’t a perfect verse/description of Christian marital abuse survivors! March on, sisters! Jesus has given us life again and raised us up! I am so happy to see the rising up of the advocacy against abuse (psychological, not just “physical”) in the last decade. In reading this verse today, God gave me a picture of how He has breathed life into post-abuse survivors, many of them who have all but given up on life, and raised them up as an army of advocates against abuse—whatever form it takes, (in my view, especially in the Christian marital setting,… Continue reading

Stay Aware

Today ends “Domestic Violence Awareness Month”. But not the need for vigilant Awareness. In my daily posts this month, I have not even scratched the surface of information and support needed. Wholeness Healing: Creativity

Creative activities help reset the nervous system, and heal the brain in the areas that can be more readily accessed after abuse. Many times, the logical, executive thinking, complex decision-making brain cannot be our first line of healing, after the confusion and chaos and crazy-making of abuse. Creativity calms down our nervous system, begins to rewire the brain, and sets us on a path to healing. Many people will say, “I’m not creative”. These activities do not require you to be an artist or think you’re “creative”. They tap into the creative side of your brain, that we were all… Continue reading
