Bible Journaling-Galatians 5

It is for Freedom we have been set Free! ~Galatians 5:1

This week was the celebration of our nation’s freedoms. So many freedoms gained in 1776 and progressing from then for more and more. Now, our nation has taken a turn, and we are losing so many hard fought for freedoms. When a nation ceases to be good, it ceases to be great. (Alexis de Tocqueville) If we ever forget we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under. (Ronald Reagan)

But we, that belong to Jesus the Messiah, have a Freedom that can never be lost. An internal freedom that remains. Even when we are externally oppressed. Who the Son sets free is free indeed!

But Jesus desires that we be free, more than just spiritually. If at all possible, that we also be free physically and in our souls/minds. Jesus came to set the captives free and heal the brokenhearted. He does want His people tormented and oppressed. But those non-spiritual freedoms, like our nation’s freedoms, can be taken from us. Still, our desire should be to work towards full Freedom, for ourselves and others.

As Paul prayed (1Thess. 5:23) “May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless…”

As I like to phrase it, May your life be Freely Whole!

This project takes a look at the Freedom that cannot be taken from us, in Galatians 5:1. While reflecting on July 4th, day of celebrating national freedoms, and week of remembrance of the beginning of clarity to achieve personal physical and soul freedom from oppression.
