Thankful—Birthday Cards

Creating took a hiatus for the majority of this month when first I was gone for a week for a Retreat (where I only took yarn and needles with me, for super portable creativity,) and then I fell on ice in the mountains, thankfully just before I came home. Bilateral injuries to my wrists, hands, and arms prevented doing much of anything, let alone crafting. Thankfully, I finger pecked to get my ThanksGiving daily posts done, on Facebook. Check those out! And Thankfully, again so much to be Thankful for!, now 2 weeks more past, I was able to catch… Continue reading

Card Time

Every so often I give you an update on recently made cards, for inspiration in making your own. Card making is an enjoyable paper craft that doesn’t have to involve complex techniques nor loads of time nor over the top creativity and brain power. It can be relaxing and fun, yet still beautiful. And it shares a unique piece of your heart and love with the recipient. As always, if you want more details on process or supplies, just ask! Go Create! For your own well being and blessing others. Card Shower

Kind of. I’m showering you with pictures of the cards I’ve made over the last 3 months. Because I noticed I haven’t posted any since July! 😲 But August and September are “light” months for me, so this is only a shower, not a flood. 😀 Even though card making isn’t my favorite papercraft, I do enjoy it. And I have a large family, so it keeps me busy—especially in keeping the creative juices flowing. As I never mass make. Every one is a unique, one-of-a-kind creation, even when there are some similarities. Some are more simple. Some more elaborate…. Continue reading

Colorful Pinwheel Card

I saw a card made from a flat pinwheel die the other day and remembered how I used to make real paper pinwheels with my kids. I decided to try making some “real”, 3 dimensional mini ones for a card front. I ❤️ love how it turned out! Join me on the creative journey, and make this simple, fun and colorful card for someone in your life. Supplies needed for this project: 2.5” strip of colorful patterned paper White cardstock — I recommend #110 or higher for card bases Small strip of light brown cardstock Distress Spray Inks (Squeezed Lemonade,… Continue reading

Soul Care and Giving

Sometimes our creating isn’t just for our own soul care, but to also bring joy to others. “With the same comfort you’ve received, comfort others.” The thing with creating not exclusively for our own joy/ soul care/ therapy is that we can then get pulled back into overthinking, over-functioning, overwhelm and stress. The opposite of the reasons we are creating. But we want things to be “nice” and “perfect” for others. What to do? What to do? One solution is to keep your creativity for your own expression, not for giving nice handcrafted gifts. But many of us want to… Continue reading

Cards from Printables

It’s rare that I make cards with print-outs. I’ve got too big of a stash of patterned papers; and I love inking, stenciling, stamping and die-cutting. But occasionally I have a design in mind and printables are the perfect option. It’s still a satisfying creative endeavor, but usually quite simple to actually make. Find, size and print the images. Cut them out. Yeah, that’s the tricky part. There’s a reason I hate fussy cutting. I can’t do it. No matter how much I try and practice, I can’t get a smooth cut. Therefore, my Brother Scan ‘n Cut is a… Continue reading

Christmas Cards in January

Back in November, I ordered supplies to make this year’s Christmas cards. They arrived after Christmas, long after I designed and sent photo cards instead. I decided to make a couple cards this weekend though, before packing my Christmas supplies away, just to play and get a feel for the new supplies. First tries rarely come out exactly like you’d like; that is the point of trying and playing with your supplies. Seeing what they do and look like, and deciding how you want to use them. They are your tools for creativity. Made for practicing and playing. Here’s my… Continue reading
