Many women don’t tell anyone about the abuse they’re living in. Others, or later, will confide in a close friend, family member, or her pastor. Hopefully these people will be loving support for her. But most will not have accurate information to help her in properly dealing with abuse or the trauma it’s caused. Separation and Divorce don’t mean the abuse is over. Abusers continue to abuse through any avenue they can. Even no-contact or protection orders don’t mean abuse has stopped. Please don’t ever think that just because she’s out and free, healing and creating a new life, that she is completely safe, that the abuser has stopped, or especially that they can and should be “friends” now.
