WIP Wednesday—Altered Playing Cards

Since it’s Wednesday, let’s take a look at my desk today, and see my work in progress (WIP). Altered Playing Cards! May was a hot minute, that flew by every which way, with events and day to day happenings. My school semester ended with various performances—our concert/recital (I was awarded Instrumentalist of the Year), we hosted a concert, and we performed for graduation. Day to day life included my son’s car being hit, home repairs and yard work, and dealing with some trauma issues,—and a restful Mother’s Day with visits with several of my children and a yummy dinner. My… Continue reading

Bible Journaling Tutorial – Resurrection

He is Risen! Risen indeed! This one event completely changed history, infinitely more than any other. It also completely changed my life—and perhaps yours too. It is the most important event in history—and in my life. I’ve been enjoying creatively journaling this event in my Bible, every year. I’ve created a different style and look in each one. This year’s Resurrection journaling was created with napkin collaging, stamping, and like my previous 2 entries, images from the Free Printable I designed. Supplies needed for this page are: Bible or Journal page—and Protection mat Napkin Collage Medium & brush/applicator Water brush… Continue reading

Creating Creative Habits

Creativity is soul care that is both effective and enjoyable for the brain healing from trauma. But to be effective, it needs to be practiced. And nothing helps practice more than making it a habit. And nothing creates habits better than doing it daily. Yes, I know what you’re saying, but stick with me. What creative soul care have you been doing recently? Most of my creations this past few weeks have continued to be envelopes, pockets and folios, with some Bible Journaling and tags and cards and jewelry making, and … and, here and there. Ok, I admit it,… Continue reading

Love & Hugs to Single Moms

Love & hugs to all our single mom peeps here. ❤️ I’m guessing that all, or at least most of you, like me, never ever thought you’d be in this position. We came into our marriages thinking we were going to be great wives and mothers. And we were. Of course, not perfect, but determined to do our best, for him and them. We thought we were going to have great husbands. We thought we were going to raise children in a safe, healthy, and even God-loving home. We thought we were going to have equal help and support in… Continue reading

Hello Spring!

Spring has sprung! Or at least is springing. The snow has melted, though will no doubt return. The Daffodils are poking through, though no where near blooming. Instead, my sprouts are sprouting on my counter. Radish. Almond. And Oat groats. Porch swing days are becoming more plentiful! And today is a lovely day for that. I hope that on this Lord’s Day, first day of Spring, you will also take some time to rest and reflect. You will see new life and future hope around you. Soul Care and Giving

Sometimes our creating isn’t just for our own soul care, but to also bring joy to others. “With the same comfort you’ve received, comfort others.” The thing with creating not exclusively for our own joy/ soul care/ therapy is that we can then get pulled back into overthinking, over-functioning, overwhelm and stress. The opposite of the reasons we are creating. But we want things to be “nice” and “perfect” for others. What to do? What to do? One solution is to keep your creativity for your own expression, not for giving nice handcrafted gifts. But many of us want to… Continue reading

Bank Envelope Double Pocket

I see a lot of different envelope pockets made for Junk /Eclectic Journals and Traveler’s Notebooks. But I’ve never seen any made from bank envelopes. That’s the type of envelope we seem to get the most of around here, so I wanted to have a play and see what I can do with them. I’ve come up with a few designs, and today’s post and video introduce you to the first. A Double Pocket, that can become a Triple Pocket when added to a journal page. These pockets are super easy to make, fast, and require very few supplies. If… Continue reading

Cards from Printables

It’s rare that I make cards with print-outs. I’ve got too big of a stash of patterned papers; and I love inking, stenciling, stamping and die-cutting. But occasionally I have a design in mind and printables are the perfect option. It’s still a satisfying creative endeavor, but usually quite simple to actually make. Find, size and print the images. Cut them out. Yeah, that’s the tricky part. There’s a reason I hate fussy cutting. I can’t do it. No matter how much I try and practice, I can’t get a smooth cut. Therefore, my Brother Scan ‘n Cut is a… Continue reading
